I got the GloFish 20 gallon kit and am very happy with my purchase. It arrived well-packaged and in perfect condition. Besides the 20 gallon tank, the kit also contained a LED light, heater, filter, stick-on thermometer, two packs of Glofish plants (three in each pack), and one Glofish yellow anemone. Currently it contains four Glofish zebra danios and four Glofish tetras who love exploring the tank, and look amazing in the blue LED light. I also added some other plants and decorations not contained in the kit, as seen in the photo. The only thing I would improve is the lid since it is a bit flimsy and sometimes doesn’t close all the way down after being lifted up.What wasn’t included in the kit but I think is necessary for every fish owner and can also be purchased on Amazon are: gravel, a water test kit for testing nitrogen levels

I got the 20 gallon glow fish tank set up. It’s a decent fish tank no leaks or defects. The water filter is a tetra whisper 20 and it runs nice and quiet. The suction line for the filter only goes about halfway down the tank so it needs an extra piece so that it reaches further down. It came with two sets of lights, a little set of blue lights or “Glow fish” lights and some white lights. The little water heater seems to work well holding the water temperature at 78° with an indoor temperature of 70. It is non-adjustable. It came with some glow fish fake plants which I would rate a soft 2 out of 10 for appeal. I mean they just look terribly fake LOL and what did I expect I guess. I bought a few real plants to go in there with I’ll probably take out the fake plants here soon. I bought the black gravel with pink green orange acrylic pebbles in there and the black gravel is super messy and hard to wash, just a heads up. Be super careful mounting the hood to the aquarium. The lid for the Fishtank is rather flimsy and if you put too much force on it it will break. A few things to mention as far as this being a starter kit for first time aquarium owners. If you have a 20 gallon fish tank try to get a filter that’s rated for 30 gallons. You don’t want to max out your filter. Kind of setting people up for failure putting a water filter that is maxed out at 20 gallons in a 20 gallon tank. Fish are messy you need a good filter. Make sure you prime your motor on your filter. It’s real simple just take a cup and fill the reservoir with some water so that your motor doesn’t burn out. If you have the ability to go to a pet shop. You will most likely save money on items rather than buying this kit. Now I tell you that because I am in rural Alaska and the nearest Petco or whatever is 200 miles away. But if you can go get a 20 gallon tank with a lid buy your own water filter, water heater and customize the parts for your fish tank you will get what you need for cheaper than buying this kit. Like I mentioned before you should get a bigger water filter and a adjustable water heater. The fake plants are just that fake and tacky looking. Just like anything if you have somebody else put things together for you it won’t be exactly what you want. I know I will eventually end up buying an upgraded water filter and an adjustable water heater.Make sure you don’t skimp on the Bacteria to help get your nitrogen cycle going. Some thing like tetra safe start will help you get your tank ready faster. It is not an end All fix all solution. You will still need to do water changes and test your water to make sure that the Ammonia and nitrite levels don’t get out of hand. But adding some bacteria will help you get the process rolling.

Tetra makes great products! Needed to upgrade size for our Glofish & keep a Glo Tank for the blue LED. We added non glofish Tetras for larger school after tank establish & they seem just as happy. Comes with everything you need! Please cycle your tank (any tank). Only negatives, misunderstood that the blue LEDS went on lid as my last tank, this tank they attach to the front & I think a little insufficient for tank. I did add a GloFish LED bubbler & bam! Also, the Yellow Sea anemone looks amazing however, I have had one when first came out and they are algea heaven & break down overtime so I obviously did not put in new tank (yes, In picture but was just to show how looked for the review then removed).

Great beginners tank…very easy to set up and maintain. I would always recommend 20 gallon tanks to beginners since more water is generally easy to balance ph and such easier as 10 gallon tanks if not maintained as often can become very toxic since it’s only 10 gallons vs 20 gallons. The filter is a little noisy and not a big fan of the design of the filter. The intake tube” tube that draws water up into filter area is to short and should sit closer to the bottom to filter. The design has tube sitting about 6″ down and it should be closer to 9″ or 10″. I’ve looked for extenders and they don’t make them for the Tetra 20 series but for all the series about Tetra 30,40 etc.The tank is solid built and the led lights are positioned at a good angle to fully light the tank at any setting white or blue led.Filters are very cheap on Amazon 3 for maybe 7 dollars. I change my filter every month very cheap to do so and keeps tank amazingly clean.I had some problem with algae but got a few snails withing days problem solved. This also includes a heater that seems to keep the tank at 77.2° F to.77.7°F. Perfect for Beta or Tetras. All in all definitely worth the money still working on extending draw tube. I also like the ability to stop water flow without unplugging filter every time. This makes feeding great so filter isn’t clogged with fish food. I shut mine off…feed fish…wait for them to eat all the food and turn switch and water starts cycling again. Great feature however o ring broke in 2 days not switch doesn’t work looking for a replacement o ring instead of buying whole piece which is $20.00 so not really using feature anymore but great idea if it worked.

Gorgeous tank, pump does not work
Such a beautiful tank!!!Only disappointing thing is that the filter pump does not work at all, and the filter lid cover came super bent. Going through the process of getting replacement parts & will update on how easy that process was once I receive the items!Besides the couple hiccups, this tank is worth tbe price. So beautiful & my beta is in love!

    Horrendous Packaging – Decent Aquarium
I had to order this aquarium 3 times before one actually arrived at my address in one piece. The supplier has absolutely horrible packaging for a glass aquarium. First 1 was destroyed in transit and didn’t even make it to my country. Second arrived smashed at my door. Had to demand bubble wrap just to get it in one piece.Once it arrived though, the aquarium itself is decent. Unique portrait setup with a nice quiet pump/filter. Nice addition to an office space.Would rate higher if it didn’t take 3 orders.
